Olympics are considered to be the leading sporting events with over thousand athletes participate in a variety of sports. Winning an Olympic medal is considered to be prestigious. Especially, in countries like India, athletes are rewarded handsomely if they return home with an Olympic medal. Coming to the Rio Olympics, two Indians PV Sindhu & Sakshi Malik brought glory to the country with a silver and bronze medal respectively. Both the ladies have put a great and brave fight in their respective sports to win an Olympic medal. Along with the Olympics medals, they are also receiving a lot of cash rewards from different state governments and associations.

PV Sindhu (Silver Medal) – Rs. 13.61 crore

  • Will get Rs. 1.01 lakh from Salman Khan
  • Will get Rs. 5 lakh from All India Football Federation (AIFF)
  • Will get Rs. 30 lakh from Indian Olympic Association
  • Will get Rs.50 lakh from Mukkattu Sebastian (Dubai-based Indian businessman)
  • Will get Rs. 50 lakh from Haryana govt.
  • Will get Rs. 50 lakh from Madhya Pradesh govt.
  • Will get Rs.50 lakh from Sports Ministry
  • Will get Rs. 50 lakh from Badminton Association of India
  • Will get Rs. 75 lakh from Bharat Petroleum
  • Will get Rs. 2 crores from Delhi govt.
  • Will get Rs. 3 crores from Andhra Pradesh govt.
  • Will get Rs. 5 crores from Telangana govt.

 

Sakshi Malik (Bronze Medal) – Rs. 5.16 crore
