Azhar, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Mary Kom etc are some of the recent biopics from Bollywood. These biopics are inspired by the real life of sports persons and other famous people. However, these biopics aren’t done freely, the producers are entitled to pay certain royalty before making a film out of their biography. So, today we bring you 5 biopics and the royalty paid to the sports persons.
1. Mary Kom – Rs. 25 Lakhs
Priyanka Chopra was seen in the biopic of Mary Kom. The film has been received well by the audience and at the box office. Approximately Rs. 25 Lakhs has been paid as a royalty to Mary Kom for making a biopic of her.
2. Milkha Singh – Re. 1
Farhan Akthar played the role of India’s flying man Milkha Singh in the film Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. Milkha Singh was paid just Re. 1 for making a biopic of him.
3. Mohammad Azharuddin – Rs. 0
Emraan Hashmi played the role of Mohammad Azharuddin in the film Azhar. The film was average at the box office. Azharuddin didn’t charge a single penny for making a biopic of him.
4. Paan Singh Tomar – Rs. 15 Lakhs
Paan Singh Tomar is an Indian soldier who won a gold medal in Indian National Games. Irrfan Khan played the role of Tomar in his biopic. The film was average at the box office with many controversies before the release. Paan Singh Tomar’s nephew was paid Rs. 15 Lakh for making his biopic.
5. MS Dhoni – Rs. 80 crores
Sushanth Singh Rajput is playing the role of MS Dhoni in the film MS Dhoni: The Untold Story. Sushanth has worked very hard to look like the real Dhoni in the film. Even though the film is yet to be released, the trailer of the film has already broken several YouTube records. Considering the popularity and the fame of MS Dhoni, producers have paid a handsome amount of Rs. 80 crores for making a biopic of him.
